Madekwe was born South London, England into a mixed family. Her father is Nigerian-Swiss while her mother was English. She attended The Brit School when she was 14 years old. She earned her BA in acting from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. While at school she appeared in a variety of stage productions such as King Henry V's princess Katherine or Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe got her start in acting by starring in a movie titled Storm Damage. In the years since, she's had appearances in guest roles for Teachers, Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Her first role in a film was Woody Allen's 2007 film Cassandra's Dream opposite Colin Farrell, Ewan McGregor. She then appeared in Elisha on the BBC Three pilot drama, in West 10 LDN. In addition, she appeared as Ollie for six episodes in the series Trexx, Flipside, and Flipside. In 2008, she was offered the Bambi character on ITV2 Drama series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. The actress was on both series 2 and 3. Madekwe also starred as the title character in How to lose friends & make people feel alienated that was aired by Sony Pictures Entertainment back in the year 2008. Her credits in theatre are Little Sweet Thing or Roy Williams as well as Flight Path of David Watson.
Madekwe was chosen to play Ashley Davenport for ABC's show The Beautiful Life. The two-episode drama aired just 2 weeks at The CW and then it came to an end. In February 2011, she was cast as Ashley Davenport in the ABC drama series Revenge. In May of 2013, it was revealed that Madekwe who had appeared on the show as a series regular for the past two seasons, had decided to quit the show following a guest appearance in the premiere episode of the new season. Madekwe starred as Tituba on the show Salem between 2014 and the year 2016. Madekwe was married to her long-time lover, Iddo. They've collaborated in the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl and also had a role alongside her on the TV series Salem.

Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into an extended family of. Her family included her parents Roy and Patty along with four brothers who were older than them: Brett, Todd and Bram twins, Rob, and Brett. Ashley's brothers, who were all very active, took part in hockey in the winter months and played baseball in the summer, so she basically grew up in baseball and arenas. Ashley was never a walker, she was a dancer, and at the age of 2 1/2 years old she began Baby Ballet -and she fell in love. Ashley became passionate about dance immediately after that. Ashley was a professional dancer across all major divisions until she finished high school. The competitions she participated in included ballet, jazz, tap and pointe, as well as Acrobatics. Ashley was awarded the top soloist award at every major dance competition, including International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance among the few.
